Sea of Poppies is an original oil painting, featuring the Little Ships of Dunkirk, by Georgia Hurst, is on Exhibition to the public in the
'Stairway Gallery'
between the Library and Falmouth Art gallery in the Falmouth Municipal Buildings
The Moor,Falmouth from 15th May extended till July to commemorate 65 years since Dunkirk
My Aim in this oil Painting is to help tell the story of the
MIRACLE OF DUNKIRK
The little ships of Britain bringing back our fighting forces from France in anything that could float, ready to fight another day.
While researching this project for the last 2 years, I have heard many first hand tales, on my travels. I hope this picture tells the story or helps the viewer to remember something we should never forget.
There are 65 people represented in the painting to represent the 65years since Dunkirk 2005

‘ SEA OF POPPIES II ABSTRACT'

Oil on Canvas size 30" x36"

Save the boats to help remember the Men
In this picture there are no people and the boats appear to be ghost ships in disrepair. This is intentional; as time goes by, the men brought back in 1940 are slowly leaving us not to return and the boats that have survived are struggling.
We need to restore these boats for our national heritage.
Something to keep the men alive, in our and our children's thoughts, in the future |
